Calgary will be maintaining a steady hiring pace

  • Net employment outlook of 8%

Edmonton

Edmonton anticipates a moderate hiring climate

  • 16% of employers plan to hire
  • 4% expect cutbacks
  • Net employment outlook of 10%

Red Deer

Red Deer’s hiring outlook is hopeful

  • 13% of employers expect to hire
  • 13% anticipate cutbacks
  • Net employment outlook of 5%

Industries with the strongest jobs outlook

Of the 10 surveyed industry sectors, employers in the Transportation & Public Utilities sector report the strongest hiring plans for the first quarter of 2019, projecting a seasonally adjusted Net Employment Outlook of 21 per cent. This is followed by the Manufacturing-Durables sector, where employers expect a respectable seasonally adjusted outlook of 20 per cent.
