Build A Career In The Construction Industry With Manpower’s PoweringUP Program
This 15-week program provides industry-leading skills training on-site at Red Deer Polytechnic to give you exposure in a variety of construction-related disciplines including: Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Pipefitting, and Welding.
Funded by the Alberta Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration.
We are currently accepting applications for our next cohort. Training begins on October 6, 2025.
- One week of Employment Preparation Skills Training By Manpower
- Eleven weeks of industry-leading, hands-on introductory skills training provided on-site at Red Deer Polytechnic
- Four weeks of work experience placements with a local trades employer
- Assistance with Job Placement following completion of work experience
- Safety Certifications (Aerial Work Platform, Fall Arrest, First Aid, CSTS 2020, and WHMIS)
- Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) Exam Preparation Skills
Explore Clean (Green) Energy and how it relates to different fields within construction. Become familiar with Industrial workplace customer service, while you earn industry-required safety certifications.
Participants will receive connections to employers in the construction industry, work experience opportunities, and 3-months of support to secure successful, full-time entry-level employment in this high-demand industry!
A resident of Red Deer or surrounding areas
18 years of age or older
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Unemployed or marginally employed (working less than 20 hours per week)
Ready, Willing and Able to participate in the 15 week (full-time) program
