The Built Smart AI Program is a fully government-funded training program offered at no cost to eligible participants.
Created to support unemployed and underemployed Albertans, the program combines hands-on training in practical, no-code AI tools with career preparation, applied projects, employer connections, and job placement support.
Built Smart AI helps participants build on their existing education and professional experience. Participants develop transferable AI and digital capabilities that add value across construction and related growth industries.
Participants learn to apply AI to real workplace activities, demonstrate their capabilities through practical projects, and communicate their value to employers.
12-Week Integrated Training Program
- BrainToy delivers 10 weeks of Occupational Skills training focused on practical, no-code AI skills and workplace applications for construction and related growth industries.
- Manpower provides 2 weeks of Workplace Essential Skills training to strengthen career readiness, professional communication, job-search skills, and the ability to present new capabilities to employers.

Practical AI Skills for the Modern Workplace
Learn how to write clear, structured prompts and refine instructions to generate more useful and relevant AI outputs.
Use AI to draft, summarize, organize, and improve reports, meeting notes, project documents, and workplace records.
Create clearer emails, updates, presentations, summaries, and other professional communications for teams, clients, and stakeholders.
Explore how automation tools and AI agents can support repetitive processes, information flow, follow-ups, and multi-step workplace tasks with human direction and oversight.
Organize and interpret data, build visual dashboards, identify trends, and communicate insights that support workplace decisions.
Build and test practical AI-supported solutions without needing traditional programming experience.
Learn to review AI outputs for accuracy, bias, privacy, confidentiality, and limitations while maintaining professional judgement and human oversight.
Apply new capabilities through hands-on activities and projects while strengthening résumé content, interview examples, professional positioning, and readiness to explain the workplace value of AI-supported solutions to employers.
- Basic digital literacy and comfort using computers and online platforms.
- Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 6 in English.
- Education, knowledge, or experience in construction, engineering, project management, supply chain, logistics, health and safety, information technology, administration, operations, or a related field.
- An interest in applying practical AI and digital skills in the workplace.
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons with a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).
- Unemployed or underemployed Albertans living in Calgary who are seeking employment in construction or related growth industries.
- Individuals receiving or eligible for regular Employment Insurance are invited to participate.
- Individuals who are ready, willing, and able to participate in full-time training and employment.
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons with a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).
- Unemployed or underemployed Albertans living in Airdrie who are seeking employment in construction or related growth industries.
- Individuals receiving or eligible for regular Employment Insurance are invited to participate.
