The Built Smart AI Program is a fully government-funded training program, offered at no cost to participants in Airdrie, Alberta, and the surrounding area.

Created to support unemployed and underemployed Albertans, the program delivers hands-on training in smart tools, technical skills, and practical work experience to prepare participants for real jobs in the construction sector. Along with construction training, participants are introduced to modern tools and technologies that help improve estimation, planning, safety, streamline logistics, and support sustainable building practices. With a strong focus on construction skills, workplace safety, and career readiness, the Built Smart AI Program equips graduates with the knowledge, confidence, and practical experience to succeed in Alberta’s growing construction industry.

12-Week Integrated Training Program

  • BrainToy will deliver 10 weeks of Occupational Skills training focused on Alberta’s construction sector including project planning, logistics, design, safety, equipment maintenance, and sustainable building practices.
  • Manpower will provide 2 weeks of Workplace Essential Skills training to help participants strengthen communication, teamwork, and job-readiness.

Advancing Construction with Modern Tools & Techniques

Gain skills in scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and 3D building design (BIM). Learn how modern tools make construction planning faster, safer, and more accurate.

Understand workplace safety standards and hazard prevention. Explore how smart monitoring tools can help reduce risks and keep job sites secure.

Learn how to manage and maintain construction equipment to avoid costly downtime. Build efficiency in day-to-day operations on the worksite.

Develop skills in organizing materials, coordinating deliveries, and managing supply chains to keep projects on track and on time.

Discover eco-friendly building practices, energy-saving techniques, and Alberta’s green construction standards to support sustainable projects.

Build strong teamwork and leadership skills. Prepare for employment with resume support, mock interviews, and networking opportunities with Alberta employers.

Learn about construction laws, safety compliance, and professional ethics to ensure projects are fair, legal, and sustainable.

Apply everything you’ve learned through hands-on labs and Alberta-based projects, giving you practical experience employers are looking for.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or refugees with a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN). 
  • Unemployed or underemployed Albertans living in Airdrie or surrounding areas who are seeking employment in construction, supply chain, or related industries. 
  • Individuals currently receiving Employment Insurance (EI), within EI reach-back (applied in the last 5 years),  as well as non-EI participants, are all welcome to apply
  • Basic digital literacy and comfort using computers and online platforms. 
  • Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 6 in English. 
  • Foundational knowledge or experience in construction, logistics, or related sectors.
