Career Construct is a no-cost, government-funded training program in Airdrie, offered through Manpower Alberta. Designed for unemployed or underemployed Albertans, it provides industry-specific training, hands-on experience, and direct employer connections to help you start or advance your career in construction.
Funded by the Alberta Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration.
12 Weeks of Construction Skills Training for Career Growth
Providing you on-site, industry-specific training, hands-on experience, and employer connections to help you transition into sustainable employment. Whether you are seeking a career in construction or have been in construction and look to get into another role.
You will complete industry-recognized safety certifications before placement, including but not limited to Common Safety Orientation (CSO), Forklift Operator Training, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and Confined Space Entry (CSE) among others

Career Construct Program Features
- Personalized skills and employability assessments to help identify each individual’s strengths and areas for growth.
- Supportive one-on-one and group workshops designed to accommodate a range of learning styles and needs.
- Access to essential employment supports, such as personal protective equipment (PPE) and work boots
- Collaborative development of a customized action plan that aligns with each participant’s goals.
- Flexible training options: short courses with certification available either full-time (2 weeks) or part-time (6 weeks).
- Ongoing support and follow-up to encourage long-term employment success and job retention.
- Individualized career guidance to support each person’s employment journey.
- Inclusive pathways to opportunities such as general labour, forklift operation, entrepreneurship, and apprenticeships.
- Two weeks of hands-on, unpaid work experience in the construction industry to build confidence and real-world skills.
- Reside in Alberta and be legally eligible to work in the province
- Currently unemployed or underemployed
- Available and motivated to seek employment
- Have a realistic employment goal in the construction sector
- Open to receiving guidance, support, guidance and coaching
- Individuals receiving or eligible for regular EI are invited to participate.
